Guernsey Clematis Nursery

Viticella Madame Julia Correvon

Category: Our Clematis

Raised by Morel, France, 1900, and almost lost to cultivation until it was found by Christopher Lloyd and commercial production was started again. This is an outstanding clematis, with vibrant red flowers which are freely produced. The semi-campanulate 7cm (3in) wide flowers have four to six tepals which are a rich red. The tepals recurve at the tips and as the flower ages they twist, giving a gappy appearance to the flower. The tepal reverse is pale pink with a white central bar. The anthers are pale yellow and are splayed open. Due to its reasonably compact habit and free flowering nature it can be used as a container grown plant to give added summer colour to the patio. Looks marvellous with roses or grey foliage plants. RHS Award of Garden Merit
